Season One Review

The Phillies' first season was more successful than not. I am pleased to inform that we managed to gain promotion from NFA division 1C to the NFA premiership. We finished a commendable third(67 points) in the league behind league leaders, Ryton Town(Newcastle, England) who finished with 83 points and runners up Debben Sports(London, England) who finished on 68 points.

The Reds' form dipped towards the run-in where we managed only 7 points from the last 7 league games before which we were top of the table with a slim 2 point lead. Nevertheless, we are thrilled to be in the premiership for Season 2.

Our performance in the NFA-non premiership cup was one to write back home about. We were knocked out in the semi-finals of the competition which started with 64 teams. We congratulate Athletico Folkestone(Folkstone, England) who went on to beat us and win the trophy on penalties in a thrilling final. We knocked out Lionel the Great, a side based out or Buenos Aires, Argentina in the semi-final which boasted the likes of Henri Saviet, Ryan Babel, Aiden McGeady amongst others. Their manager was quoted saying, " A true defensive masterclass from the Reds today, they were the underdogs and tactically outsmarted us!" .
